Ahh, my first post

Hiya,

Today is December 31 2009 and I finally decided to write a blog. I've only had this account since June of 2008 and haven't posted a note! I want to soar in 2010, feel like I'm making a difference in someone's life ya know?!

So what is this blog about you ask? Well anything and all things Debra! My daily thoughts, rants, cravings, wishes, hopes, dreams...basically anything that comes to mind all for your viewing pleasure.

I got to thinking, who is Debra anyway?! Maybe I will figure it out this year. She likes to go by Deb vs. Debbie (only allow the seniors to call me that). She likes to sing, but has never made much of that. She likes graphic design, but has never made much of that either. She loves all things web and is finally trying her hand at that. She doesn't usually refer to herself in the third person and is going to stop right now!

I use to always look up the meaning of a person's name to try to get a better understanding of them. Some people like astrological signs...I like names. Anyway, the meaning for my name was always so blah. My name means "bee." In some books you'll see "busy bee," "a bee," or even "honeybee." Real deep huh? I mean, I know Deborah was a prophetess in the Bible and a good respectable name, but I found myself trying to look up the meaning of bee to get a better understanding. But today I looked up the name again (just for kicks I guess) and found this wonderful definition:

The name Deborah means "Queen Bee" The origin is Hebrew. Deborah was the name of a judge prominent in the Old Testament of the Bible. One of the most important women in the Bible, she was a prophetess and lawmaker. She convinced Barak to lead a war to victory after which she wrote a song to honor him and the victory. That song is currently in the Bible in the book of Judges. Over the centuries this name has been one of the more popular names for girls and was appreciated for its association with the hard work, persistence, and importance to society for which bees were known.

Hard work?...yeah that's me? Persistence?...yeah, yeah! Importance to society?...I like the sound of that! Time to work on my importance to this society!! Did you notice this definition also says "Queen" bee? Now I'll take that over "a bee" any day.

Watch out Lil' Kim, there's a new Queen Bee in town.

Deb
